Mumbai: A magistrate court in Bhoiwada has directed the Mumbai police to conduct a probe and file a report on the alleged remarks of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi against independence activist Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, popularly known as Veer Savarkar.
The order has been passed on the defamation case filed by Savarkar’s grandson Ranjit alleging that in 2016, Mr Gandhi had made defamatory comments against the freedom fighter in a tweet from the Congress’ official Twitter handle.
Ranjit has also named the Congress leader Sonia Gandhi and the political party itself for allegedly making false claims about his grandfather.
