VBA joins chorus against car shed
Mumbai: The Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) joined the debate over the metro 3 car shed at Aarey Colony, saying that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Shiv Sena had been fooling voters over the issue.
The VBA held a press conference in Mumbai Wednesday where it clarified that it was opposing the car shed at Aarey on environmental and humanitarian grounds.
If VBA MLAs were elected, they would fight for tribal and local issues and oppose construction of the car shed at Aarey, the party made it plain.
Siddharth Mokale, a VBA member, said, “The Sena and BJP are leading two different views on the car shed at Aarey and on other issues as well. Both parties are fooling voters. They are stealing the face of the Opposition and creating confusion among voters. VBA is against the car shed at Aarey not only for election purposes, but has also worked on the issue through its local NGO friends and supporters.”
A.D. Sawant from the VBA said, “The land and trees at Aarey are owned by the tribals and locals living there for many years. It is not the BJP’s property to take over without their permission.”
