One held for possession of MD worth Rs 8 lakh
Mumbai: The Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) has seized Mephedrone worth Rs 8 lakh from a person in Goregaon. The Ghatkopar un-it of the ANC arrested the accused from near Vikhroli depot, following a tip-off about a possible drug deal that was averted.
The arrested accused was identified as Ganesh Pathare (30), a resident of BMC colony, Film City road, Goregaon. The police said that it received information about Pathare and the MD deal on Friday. “A trap was laid by a team of Ghatkopar ANC near Varsha Nagar bus stop at Vikhroli bus depot in the Parksite area. We are questioning him to ascertain further links in the case,” said an ANC officer.
When the officials fri-sked him, they found 200 gram MD in his possession which he had come there to sell to somebody. The officials said that a case had been registered against Pathare and others as per the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Subst-ances (NDPS) Act and he had been remanded to police custody for further investigation.
The officials are now questioning him to identify further links.
