65 register for transit agreement
Mumbai: Residents of BDD chawls located at N.M. Joshi Marg have started registering for the transit agreement through online registration system. Till date, 65 residents have registered to move to transit camps while their buildings will be redeveloped. Along with the notices that the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (Mhada) sent them, the housing body also sent a bulk SMS to inform the residents about registration facilities. The Mhada’s Mumbai board is conducting the online registration for the transit agreement for the first time. The transit agreement registration for BDD residents of N.M. Joshi Marg has started from April 10. Within nine days, 65 people have registered. “Yes, the response is very slow. But we are confident that the response will increase as awareness spreads,” said an official from Mhada. Presently, the registration timings are from 10am to 6pm, which many people, especially those who are working, said were inconvenient for them. “If people demand, we will change the timings for registration from 8am to 8pm for office-goers’ convenience,” said a Mhada official. A total of 800 residents live in 10 BDD chawls of N.M. Joshi Marg. According to the official, a total 451 out of 800 residents have been fo-und eligible to get the benefit of redevelopment and the process to ascertain bona fides of claimants is still underway. After the transit registration, the registered families will be shifted to Prakash quarter, Bharat mill transit, Ruby mill transit, and Century mill transit camps.
