Mumbai: Chembur police has arrested a 36-year-old female domestic help woman who allegedly stole jewellery worth 9 lakh from her employer, a businessman. The police suspect she could be involved in several thefts, in which the usually well-heeled were targeted. To escape getting caught, she would change her phone and SIM card after executing a theft.
“She used to target rich people’s house and then fly away with their jewellery worth lakhs of rupees. She used to change her phone and SIM card every time after her robbery at one place,” said a police officer. The accused, Bharati Pawar, who knows six Indian languages, turned a thief after she lost her husband 10 years ago. Since then she has been stealing several materials and valuables.
