Local who spotted Sheena's body deposes
Mumbai: The man who had first spotted the skeleton purportedly of Sheena Bora and informed the police, deposed as a witness in the case on Wednesday. He told the court that he had stopped his tempo to pick mangoes from a tree when he spotted the decomposed body.
Ganesh Dhene, who also works as police patil in Pen village, Wednesday appeared before the court as witness. He stated before special judge J.C. Jagdale that in 2012, when he was passing by a road in Pen, he stopped his tempo to pick mangoes as he knew that there was a tree beside the road.
When he came close to the tree, he spotted a burnt body around 15 feet away. After spotting the skeleton, he immediately left, returned to his house and informed the
police about the same.
The police had asked him to reach the spot again and the skeleton was removed in his presence. The doctor was also called to carry out an autopsy.
The doctor removed some bones from the skeleton to conducting the post-mortem.
It may be recalled that though Mr Dhene had spotted the skeleton in 2012, the identity of the deceased could not be ascertained till 2015.
The murder of Sheena Bora came to light when the police arrested Indrani Mukerjea’s former driver Shyamvar Rai for possessing illegal firearms.
During the probe of the illegal firearms, Rai spilled the beans about Sheena’s murder and only after that it was revealed that the skeleton found in Pen in 2012 was that of Sheena Bora.
