Nervous leaders hold meetings before D-day

Raj Thackeray focused on preparation for Nashik polls, where his party was in power for last five years.

Mumbai: A day before the voting for the civic body elections, top political leaders of all the political parties held backstage meetings with the cadre. While chief minister Devendra Fadnavis held meetings at his residence, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray visited party offices in Mumbai to boost the morale of Sena workers. Today, voting for ten municipal councils elections and 15 Zilla Parishad polls will take place. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also met few journalists in the morning on Monday and later he took stock of the situation.

Sources said, chief minister personally called key workers in Pune, Solapur and Nashik to acquire information about the preparation for crucial polls. Mr Fadnavis also met members of the core team of Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) in the city.

Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray visited Shiv Sena offices in Borivali and Mulund. Both areas are touted as the bastions of Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP). According to the sources, Mr Thackeray assured the party workers of “total support” to unseat the BJP. He also called Shiv Sena leaders in Pune and Kolhapur.

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) Chief Raj Thackeray also met key members of his party in Mumbai. Raj Thackeray focused on preparation for Nashik polls, where his party was in power for last five years. Raj Thackeray also called party workers from north-east Mumbai.
