Two sainiks held for abusing Congress leader

Ms Mhatre filed a First Information report (FIR) in the morning on Monday against Chetan Parmar and Shiv Kumar Yadav.

Mumbai: The MHB police on the night of Sunday arrested two Shiv Sena workers for allegedly threatening and abusing Congress candidate, Sheetal Mhatre. Ms Mhatre filed a First Information report (FIR) in the morning on Monday against Chetan Parmar and Shiv Kumar Yadav, working for Sena’s Dahisar civic ward candidate, Mrs Tejasvi Ghosalkar.

When contacted, Mrs Ghosalkar’s husband and sitting Sena corporator, Abhishek Ghosalkar, said, “This false FIR was filed in retaliation to the non-cognisable complaint filed against Ms Mhatre for assaulting two party workers.”

According to police sources, Ms Mhatre, Congress’ candidate from Dahisar, filed a FIR at MHB police station in the morning on Monday against Mr Parmar and Mr Yadav. Ms Mhatre alleged that the two abused and threatened her in Borivali Monday midnight.

She alleged that the duo arrived on an Activa scooter with registration number MH-02-CM-7023 and started creating a ruckus, after which, they openly threatened her saying “We will see you on tomorrow at 11am. Mr Parmar and Mr Yadav followed Ms Mhatre home after which she called up the police helpline and registered a FIR in the morning on Monday.

Speaking to The Asian Age, Ms Mhatre said, “I registered a FIR following their open threats and abuses hurled at me near Blue Star building at 12.30am. The two party workers were following me the whole day and it went a bit too far when they followed me home at odd hours.”
