Man arrested for masturbating sent to judicial custody
Mumbai: The man who was arrested on the complaint of actor Chinmayee Surve for allegedly masturbating near a Vile Parle school in a car on Monday has been sent to judicial custody till February 28. Police sources said that the accused, Jivan Chaudhary (42), used to engage in the activity often around the same spot, where his employer stays.
Deepak Deoraj, Mumbai police spokesperson and deputy commissioner of police (operations), said, “The police will be investigating deeper into the matter. However appropriate action was already taken by charging him for insulting the modesty of a woman, which comes under section 509 of the Indian Penal Code.”
A police source from Vile Parle police said that Chaudhary, whose employer stays in the same locality as the complainant’s, used to park the white BMW right opposite Vile Parle’s Parle Tilak Vidyamandir.
The source added that Chaudhary’s employer too is likely to be brought in for questioning to check if a thorough background check was done or not.
On Monday morning, Ms Surve, wife of actor Sumeet Raghavan, was near Vile Parle Tilak School, when she saw Chaudhary allegedly masturbating inside the BMW. Chaudhary, a driver by profession, was driving the car registered with number MH-03-AP-1985. When Ms Surve shot Chaudhary a disgusted look, he allegedly failed to stop, and further rolled down the passenger seat’s window. However, when Ms Surve started marching towards him, he immediately drove away. In her haste, Ms Surve managed to note down only the last four digits of the vehicle.
The police, however, caught Chaudhary with the help of the closed-circuit television cameras installed in the lane within two hours.
