State told to set up cell to probe human trafficking
Mumbai: The Bombay high court while hearing a PIL filed by NGO rescue foundation pertaining to “immoral trafficking” suggested that the state government should set up a special cell to investigate and search people who are victims of children-women trafficking.
The court also asked law and judiciary and the home department to file an affidavit pertaining to this. The court also said that the police is busy with 'bandobast' on various festivals, VIP securities, passport verification and many other things. “Searching people is a thinking process it is not a mechanical work. If the state creates such a dedicated department, it can see results within a year,” the court said.
The court asked state government that why the state has not formed separate cell or department to handle the cases of immoral trafficking. The court asked additional chief secretary home, and principal secretary law and judiciary department to look into the matter.
