Mukesh Ambani donates Rs 75.5 lakh to Shirdi on 60th birthday
Mumbai: The Shirdi Saibaba Sansthan Trust (SSST)-run Sainath Hospital has received nearly Rs 75.5 lakh for purchase of modern medical equipment and other amenities to help poor patients across Maharashtra. The donation was given by industrialist Mukesh Ambani on the occasion of his 60th birthday.
SSST’s chief executive officer Rubal Agarwal, who is an IAS officer, said, “The money will be used to purchase three machines of LED light source used for endoscopy, three units of shadow lace lamps, one unit of ventilator intensive care unit (ICU), and two neuro-drill machines.”
Presently, the trust runs Sainath Hospital and Saibaba Super Specialty Hospital each with a 200 bed capacity in the town of Shirdi, for which, it spends Rs 70 crore annually in healthcare facilities for those below poverty line (BPL). Over 50,000 poor patients from across the country have been provided free treatment for various heart ailments over the past five years for which the trust has spent more than Rs 54 crore.
The trust has taken up various developmental programmes to provide facilities including accommodation and health services to the needy and to devotees visiting Shirdi. It has now decided to build one more hospital apart from the existing two hospitals being run by the trust in Shirdi.
