MUMBAI: Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday said Kalyan Growth Centre would be developed as an alternative in order to decongest Mumbai’s industrial growth. For the benefit of the local people they will be made partners in the development, he said. The Kalyan Growth Centre will be developed on the lines of Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC).

“The government has taken note of the demand of the locals to have a separate Nagar Palika for 27 villages and a decision in this regard will be taken at the government level, the chief minister said adding that while developing Kalyan Growth Centre, roads and other basic facilities on the lines of Bandra-Kurla Complex BKC) will be provided and their location will be decided if the local people cooperate for the same,” he said in a meeting held in Mantralaya on Friday.  The fund of Rs 1000 crore has been reserved with the MMRDA to complete this work in a time bound manner.

“The project is more significant for our next generation and it will create facilities and amenities for them. The locals did not get direct benefit of the earlier projects but now they will get 100 per cent benefit. The basic facilities will be completed in three-four years and in the coming 7-8 years the investment would start coming in this project. Local people should cooperate with the launching of the project. The government will consider all your suggestions positively,” the chief minister assured the local
