The DMRC is executing the project on behalf of Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) and has completed more than 45 per cent of the civil works on the line.
In its tenders, the DMRC mentioned, “Contractor needs to look after design, fabrication, supply and erection of prefabricated steel roof structures including roof sheating etc. for eight elevated stations.” Among the stations which will be designed include Charkop, Malad Metro, Kasturi Park, Bangur Nagar, Goregaon Metro, Adarsh Nagar, Shastri Nagar and D. According to officials, each of the areas where the stations are coming up will be studied, post which the theme will be decided.
Meanwhile, the MMRDA had asked various architectural firms and colleges to submit their designs for the station. “We have taken design elements from their submissions and incorporated it in our final design,” said a senior MMRDA official.
