Intervene in Girgaum land row: NGO to CM

In its letter to the CM, the NGO sought permission to resort to euthanasia'.

Mumbai: Taking up the cause of 103 families of Girgaum, who were served eviction notices by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) that required the land where their chawls stand for its Metro-3 corridor, a NGO has sought the intervention of chief minister Devendra Fadnavis.

The NGO, Aamhi Girgaonkar, has alleged that the MMRDA, despite serving the eviction notices, is yet to inform the families on where exactly they would be rehabilitated. In its letter to the CM, the NGO sought permission to resort to ‘euthanasia’.

The Asian Age had reported on the issue in its May 4, 2018 edition. An MMRC official had then said, “Tenants will get in-situ rehabilitation on the plot.”
