New Development Plan kept in abeyance, old Dp will continue
Mumbai: The state government has kept in abeyance the implementation of the error-filled Mumbai Development Plan (DP) for up to two months. A notification would be issued Thursday specifying the time of implementation. Till then the provisions of the old DP would stay implemented, said senior officials of the urban development department.
Undue haste by the state government in sanctioning the Mumbai DP has led to technical issues. The state government has made many changes to the modifications, recommended by the BMC. The government has made changes to the provisions for floor space index (FSI), and modified proposals to adopt suggestions and objections.
It was expected that provisions of the new DP would come into effect from Friday after the expiration of the earlier DP on Thursday.
However, the implementation would take a few more months. Therefore, the state has decided to extend the earlier DP till the new DP is finalised. A notification for the same should be out Thursday.
A delegation of the Maharashtra chamber of housing industries met chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and raised issues with the provisions for FSI and reservations.
