Rains expected in most parts of Maharashtra: IMD

The weather conditions have been attributed to a low-pressure belt that has persisted in the Bay of Bengal.

Mumbai: Weather experts have predicted rainfall for the weekend in most parts of Vidarbha, Marathwada, Khandesh and central Maharashtra.

The weather conditions have been attributed to a low-pressure belt that has persisted in the Bay of Bengal.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), there is a possibility of moderate to heavy rains in Gadchiroli, Chandrapur, Yavatmal, Gondia, Bhandara, Hingoli, Parbhani and Jalna districts and vicinity. Due to this odd condition of rain, flooding can occur in the river drains. Contact between some villages can also disconnect. Therefore, the IMD advised people living on the banks of rivers and streams to be cautious.

“Light to moderate rainfall may occur in the rest of Vidarbha, Marathwada, Madhya Maharashtra and Khan-desh. Some rainfall may also take place even in Mumbai and Konkan region. But there will be lower chances of rainfall in South Central-Maharashtra and south-Marathwada,” said an IMD official.

Due to this rainfall, the temperature in the state will be temporarily reduced, but it will rise back in the next week and the heat will be felt all over the state.

The agriculture department has urged farmers to plan their crops according to the weather conditions and to protect the crops that have been harvested.
