Tank explosion in rickshaw injures three
Mumbai: Three persons were injured after a brand new auto rickshaw exploded while being filled with CNG in Malad on Saturday morning. The incident took place on S.V. Road and it is suspected that its tank was over loaded with CNG leading to the explosion. The police are also investigating the incident.
The injured persons were identified as Anil More, 57, Sohail Ahmed Shaikh, 57 and Shailesh Tiwari, 25. The police said that the incident took place at around 8am at the HP petrol pump near Milap Theatre.
“The injured persons were rushed to Tunga Hospital in Kandivali (west). They have sustained grevious injuries. The incident is being probed to ascertain what exactly led to the explosion and if there was negligence on the part of anybody there,” said an officer of Kandivali police station.
The police said that two of the injured are critical. The officials will take help of the RTO and other experts to ascertain if there was any fault with the rickshaw, which was a new unit.
A diary entry has been made and further investigation is underway. Apart from the survivors, the police will record statements of the witnesses and the staff at the petrol pump who were working at the CNG filling station. The CCTV camera footage of the spot will also be checked to find if any external factors led to the explosion.
