Peter Mukerjea seeks Shyamvar Rai's police statement

Peter said he wanted that statement during Shyamvar's cross-examination in the trial court to be able to spot discrepancies.

Mumbai: Former media baron Peter Mukerjea has approached the Bombay high court to seek the station diary, case diary and personal diary of two police officers at Khar police station, who arrested accused-turned-approver Shyamvar Rai and recorded his statement in the diary. Peter said he wanted that statement during Shyamvar’s cross-examination in the trial court to be able to spot discrepancies.

Peter’s lawyer Shrikant Shivde argued that two police officers of Khar police station identified as Dinesh Kadam and Ganesh Dalvi had found Shyamvar in suspicious circumstances and detained him. After interrogation, they had found Shyamvar to be in possession of a country-made revolver. Shyamvar had also confessed that with the help of Indrani Mukerjea (main accused in the case), Sanjiv Khanna (another accused in the case), and Peter, he murdered Sheena in 2012.

Mr Shivde informed that two separate charge-sheets had been filed against Shyamva.. Peter’s lawyer further cleared that “Mr Kadam and Mr Dalvi had not given any statement and were never examined as witnesses in the firearms case.

Hence, we need the station diary, case diary and personal diary to see what exactly Shyamvar told the police in the firearm possession case which will help us cross-examine Shyamvar in the sessions court.”
