Find Rajneesh aka Osho's original will soon, Bombay HC tells police

The court was hearing a PIL filed by Yogesh Thakkar, a follower of Osho since 1979.

Mumbai: The Bombay high court on Tuesday asked the city police to expedite its investigation to find the original will of late spiritual guru Rajneesh aka Osho.

A division bench of Justice Ranjit More and Justice Revati Mohite-Dere directed the Karegoan police in Pune to expedite the process of finding Osho’s will and posted the matter for further hearing on January 25, 2017. The court was hearing a PIL filed by Yogesh Thakkar, a follower of Osho since 1979. In his petition, Mr Thakkar alleged that the trustees of Osho International Foundation had forged Osho’s signature in his will. Mr Thakkar sought a CBI investigation into the matter.

Mr Thakkar told The Asian Age that one reason for seeking a transfer of investigation from the city police to the CBI was that the Karegaon police had told the court that the original will had been destroyed when it was produced before a court in Europe a few years ago. Osho died on January 19, 1990 in his Pune-based ashram.
