IDOL M.Com students still await books
MUMBAI: The Master of Commerce (M.Com) students at the Distance and Open Learning (IDOL), Mumbai University (MU), are yet to get study material, even after five months since the beginning of their academic year.
Students of both M.Com – part one and two, are waiting for the-ir books and notes from the university, which, according to MU officials, ‘are not available’. The students’ annual exams will be conducted in May but since IDOL students don’t have lectures, study material is their only source of preparation.
“From August till now, I have visited the Kalina campus (of MU) four times to ask them about the books. First they said the books will be available after September; then they said after Diwali; and now they are saying something else. It would have been better that I did my course from a normal college because at least I would have got books and study material in my hand,” said a M.Com part one student.
According to her, after Diwali vacations, the part one students got three books while one is still pending.
Meanwhile, for part two students, not a single book has been issued by the varsity. “Our exams are not scheduled yet but most probably they will be in May or June. It is already December end now, and none of us have anything to study. This becomes more difficult since we don’t have regular lectures and most of us are working,” another student from M.Com part two said.
