Court denies bail to woman accused of molesting boy
Mumbai: A special Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) court on Monday rejected bail application of a 45-year-old woman who has been arrested for molesting an 11-year-old boy.
The child’s father had filed the complaint and the accused is a friend of his wife. Nude pictures of three children of the complainant were also found on the accused’s phone.
Public prosecutor Jyoti Sawant and senior advocate Sujay Kantawala on behalf of the complainant had opposed the bail application filed by the 45-year-old lady who had allegedly molested the boy at her residence.
“I have separated from my wife since last three years and we have three children. Two of them are staying with their mother and my elder son stays with me. My elder son and I used to meet them, but on returning he mostly seemed to be disturbed. Initially, he used to complaint about that lady, but he couldn’t explain exactly what was being done to him,” said the boy’s father, while speaking to The Asian Age.
According to the police complaint, the incident took place a few days ago when the boy had gone to his mother’s place, but she was not home.
The accused, who is friend of boy’s mother and lives in the same building, allegedly asked him to wait at her place.
The woman allegedly took the boy home, molested him and let him go after more than an hour. The boy was scared and later when his father took him into confidence and enquired, the boy told him about the incident.
Advocate Sujay Kantawalla argued before judge M.H. More that the police had found nude picture of all the three children in the accused’s phone. A detailed probe needs to be conducted in order to find out if the pictures have been shared with anybody, official said.
After hearing the arguments, the judge rejected the bail plea.
