Bombay HC raps ACB for closing probe on FSI for parking

Mumbai: The Bombay high court has rapped the Anti-corruption Bureau (ACB) for closing investigation into corruption by developers who did not hand over parking spaces in their projects despite getting additional floor space index (FSI) for the same under a scheme started by the previous government.

A division bench of justices S.C. Dharmadhikari and Bharati Dangare was hearing a public interest litigation (PIL) filed by activist Pravin Wategaonkar who also submitted a reply which stated that the ACB had asked the UDD whether the latter found any corruption in implementing the scheme to which the UDD replied that there were no grounds to file a FIR against any of its officials. Accordingly, the ACB decided to close the investigation.

Mr Wategaonkar alleged that while implementing the scheme, a developer benefited to the tune of Rs 845 crore due to connivance of officials from the UDD department. The court questioned the ACB’s procedure in forwarding complaints against departments to them.
