MARD seeks action against senior doctor for harassment

The MARD has put forward several demands in front of the J.J. Hospital administration.

Mumbai: Two days after second year junior resident doctor alleged harassment by a senior professor at the state-run J.J. Hospital, the Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (MARD) demanded that the administration take stringent action against that professor. The MARD said it would take "necessary action" if its demands were not met within four days.

The MARD has put forward several demands in front of the J.J. Hospital administration. One of the demands made is strict action against Dr Rajshree Katke, a senior gynaecologist. The move came after a resident doctor alleged that Dr Katke would force her to run personal errands, take care of her kids, and at times, pay for their expenses. The resident doctor also alleged that she was routinely summoned to Dr Katke’s house for personal work and made to sit for several hours as a peon ushering her visitors.

When contacted, Dr Katke told The Asian Age, “I’m not aware of this.”
