MNS leaders seek major rejig via Twitter and Facebook
Mumbai: After questioning Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray on Thursday, his party workers have come out openly demanding major organisational changes. MNS’ former group leader in the BMC Sandeep Deshpande and Amey Khopkar, MNS’s film cell chief took to Twitter and Facebook stating the need for “organisational changes”.
Details of the stormy sessions between MNS leaders and Mr Thackeray’s Thursday meeting are slowly spilling out in the open.
On Friday, Mr Deshpande and Mr Khopkar updated their FB status, in which they reminded Mr Thackeray’s statement from March 19, 2006, when he had left the Shiv Sena and addressed his first party meeting at Shivaji Park. The FB status read: “Constant positive changes is symbol of progress. Raj Thackeray on March 19, 2006. Now this idea must be implemented within party also”.
The FB post clearly calls for the MNS leader and party workers to read between the lines and get the real meaning of their FB post. Both, the young leaders have asked for organisational changes to make the party ready for the next political battle. When contacted, Mr Deshpande refused comment. “I have said what I wanted to on social media. There’s nothing more to add,” he said.
On Thursday, MNS leaders had asked Mr Thackeray to come out in public more often. When Mr Thackeray blamed them for not conveying his message to public, the leaders retorted saying, “People never get to know the party’s stand on various issues when they need it the most.” This internal conflict has paved way for discussion of organisational restructure of MNS.
