Sheena Bora case adjourned till May 5
Mumbai: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court on Friday adjourned the hearing in the April 2012 Sheena Bora murder case till May 5.
Though there is no stay on the trial by the Bombay high court, on the request of lawyers, special CBI judge H S Mahajan deferred hearing on the trial till May 5.
The HC is expected to hear the applications filed by Indrani Mukerjea and Peter Mukerjea during that time.
According to both the accused, Rai has given confessional statement in connection with Sheena Bora murder case. The police has no other option but to rely on his confession and not on any other statement given before recording of his confession.
The applicants have claimed in the petition that the police officer cannot divulge what Rai had told him about the Sheena Bora murder case, especially when he was in police custody as an accused in another case.
The accused has also contended that even if the witness tells court what Rai had told him without taking names mentioned in Rai’s statement it would cause prejudice to them.
