BJP 'scams' will be probed: Prithviraj Chavan
Mumbai: Former chief minister of Maharashtra Prithviraj Chavan said that if the Congress returns to power, all the “scams” that occurred under the governments of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief minister Devendra Fadnavis would be investigated.
Mr Chavan inaugurated the election campaigning office of senior Congress leader Eknath Gaikwad at Chembur and addre-ssed a rally in the Mumbai South Central seat.
In his speech, Mr Chavan came down heavily on the BJP and said Mr Fadnavis had indulged in a scam of around '10,000 crore while making changes twice in the Development Plan. He also said that they (the BJP) should show what big work they have completed within the Modi and Fadnavis regime. He appealed to voters to vote for Mr Gaikwad.
Targeting Mr Modi and Mr Fadnavis, Mr Chavan alleged that terrorist attack at Pulwama was the result of our intelligence agencies like the Kargil war. “Agencies should have known about the attack very well in advance. After Kargil war, the late Atal Bihari Vajpayee had appointed a committee to deeply investigate the intelligence failure; will Mr Modi show courage like Vajpayee?” he asked.
Mr Chavan alleged that Mr Modi is politicising and seeking votes on the martyrdom of jawans who died in the Pulwama attack. He also said that after coming to power, Mr Modi had made false promises. “In the last five years, how many promises has he completed? Still, the BJP has made many promises in its (recent) manifesto,” he said.
The leader praised the Congress manifesto and said it is historical and revolutionary in nature. Mr Chavan said that due to the constant efforts of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, the poverty percentage has fallen down to 21 per cent.
