Man alleges cops' inaction over protection request

Mr Mehra later received a call from one of the men, who warned him to withdraw the cases pending against him in court.

New Delhi: A director of a tour and travel firm has been virtually running from pillar to post seeking police protection for his family from miscreants threatening them for years. The victim claimed that he had filed several complaints against them in the past, but no action has been taken yet.

Gaurav Mehra, the victim, filed a complaint on May 8 this year stating that after dropping his daughter to school, a white Maruti Suzuki overtook his car and stopped in front of his car. Two men, one of them his ex-employee, emerged out of the car and approached him. They asked him to step out and when he refused, they started banging on the car window and door, asking him to step out. One of them had a “pistol like thing” on him and kept pointing it near his waist, while threatening him to come out.

However, his driver managed to reverse the car and drove straight to the Supreme Court. When Mr Mehra saw the accused were still chasing them before the traffic light on Bhagwan Dass Road, he asked his driver to take a U-turn, and head towards Mandi House. The accused were still chasing them and even tried to block Mr Mehra's car again. Mr Mehra then made a PCR call and informed the police about the incident.

Mr Mehra later received a call from one of the men, who warned him to withdraw the cases pending against him in court. His ex-employee used to work at his office between 2013-2015. He has been threatening his family ever since July 2016. He has taken a loan of Rs 1.5 lakh in August 2015, Mr Mehra said.
