PG admission dates postponed
Mumbai: The under-graduate (UG) and post-graduate (PG) sections of Mumbai university (MU) have postponed admission dates for PG courses on account of the ongoing delay in declaring results of final year degree college students. As per a circular issued by MU, the deadline has now been pushed to August 31 and the same will be applicable to all departments, universities and colleges affiliated to MU that provide admission to PG courses such as Master of Arts (M.A.), Master of Commerce (M.Com.) and Master of Science (M.Sc.), among others.
The delay in results and obtaining mark sheets had students worried as they thought they would miss an opportunity to enroll for the chosen Masters’ courses. With a view to allaying their fears, the varsity postponed the admission dates. However, the order does not carry any value for outside universities or colleges (other than MU). As it is, many students have missed the opportunity to get admissions in universities abroad or within India. A senior official of the UG and PG section said, “Because the fault is on our part, we will accept admissions till each and every student gets his/her mark sheet. No student will be left without a seat for his or her PG courses.”
In addition to PG courses including M.A., M.Com. and M.Sc., MU chancellor and state governor C. Vidyasagar Rao on Friday announced that the cut-off date for submission of mark sheets had been extended till August 24 for courses such as Masters in Business Administration (MBA), Masters in Computer Applications (MCA).
