Bombay HC terms ST bus employees' stir as illegal

The court said that the committee should submit a detailed report by December 22 this year.

Mumbai: The vacation bench of the Bombay high court has declared the strike called by Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) workers unions as ‘illegal’. The MSRTC employees had gone on strike, demanding a salary hike as per recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission. The court also directed that a high power committee should be appointed which will consider the interim pay revision of the employees on or before November 15. The court said that the committee should submit a detailed report by December 22 this year.

“The strike by the employees of the State Transport Corporation is hereby declared illegal,” said Justice Sandeep Shinde. The court also directed the state to constitute a high powered committee consisting of five members by October 23, which shall consider the interim pay revision of the employees of the corporation by November 15.
