CIO: Amit Shah among main conspirators
Mumbai: Amit Shah, the then home minister of Gujarat and BJP president and three IPS officers were the prime conspirators in the Sohrabuddin Shaikh and Tulsiram Prajapati fake encounter case, chief investigating officer (CIO) Sandeep Tamghare told a special CBI court Wednesday.
Mr Tamghare told the court that the charge-sheet against Mr Shah and the IPS officers D.G. Vanzara, Rajkumar Pandian, and Dinesh M.N. were filed because the probe agency found evidence against them during the investigation.
Mr Tamghare filed a supplementary charge-sheet in the Sohrabuddin encounter case and filed the entire chargesheet in the Tulsiram Prajapati encounter case. He stated before special Judge S.J. Sharma that he was not taking the names of these persons without any evidence because without evidence, the chargesheet could not have been filed. However, he also clarified that there was no documentary evidence in the supplementary chargesheet to support his claim.
The Gujarat and Rajasthan police in a joint operation shot dead Sohrabuddin on November 26, 2005.
