Depressed with TB, police constable jumps to death from roof

Mumbai: A 43-year-old police constable Srinivas Kumbhare, attached with Meghwadi Police Station, Jogeshwari (east) committed suicide by jumping off a terrace of his building on Wednesday morning at 6.30 am. Kumbhare’s body was found lying in a pool of blood behind his building in MIDC when the other residents of the building went looking for him.

Kumbhare, a resident of MIDC, Andheri (east), who was suffering from Tuberculosis since two years, left his house at 6.30 am on Tuesday. He left his house saying that he was going for a morning walk and will return within an hour. According to the police, Kumbhare then locked the door from outside, and left the premises. He went to the terrace and jumped off, committing suicide. When Kumbhare did not return home for a long time, his wife got worried and started to panic.

She screamed for help since Kumbhare had locked the door from outside. Neighbours opened the door and started looking for Kumbhare, only to find him dead, lying in a pool of blood. Kumbhare is survived by his wife, two sons and one daughter.
