Bandra has always seen multiple fires that have mostly taken place in the slums of Bandra east. On October 26, the Behrampada slums was engulfed in flames.
An official said, "A worker at the stall seemed to have forgotten to switch the hotplate off but we are still unsure as he cannot remember if it was off or on.”
The railways had also seen a similar fire near Masjid railway station and had caused the entire line between Kurla and CSMT to be shut down for five hours. WR’s Gajanan Mahatpurkar, senior public relations officer, said, “The fire did not harm anyone and the enquiry into the fire is going on.”
Food-stalls at platforms are allowed to cook, according to sources. Western Railway (WR) officials have also called in for a review of all food stalls and another
controversy as a food stall at Andheri had served a mouse in a plate of samosa, as recently as November of this year.
