Bids for pivotal railway projects to be issued soon
Mumbai: Railway board member (Engineering) A.K. Mittall reviewed the work of Mumbai Urban Transport Project (MUTP) III, which has been touted as the next big project for Mumbai suburban.
Out of Rs 11,000 crore required for the Mumbai Urban Transport Project III, the Centre has allocated Rs 636 crore for the mammoth project in the Union budget.
Speaking to The Asian Age exclusively at Mumbai Rail Vikas Corporation (MRVC), Mr Mittall said that tenders for the two-elevated corriodors CST-Panvel and Bandra-Virar as well as MUTP III would be out in a few months. He said, “Let’s say in a few months the tenders for these important projects like MUTP III and both the elevated corridors will be issued.” He further added, “We do understand that these projects matter a lot for the Mumbaikars and we have therefore included it in the Pink Book with fund allocated towards them. This is basically to ensure that the work get completed in a time bound manner.”
In the Pink Book, the Centre has also allocated Rs 10 lakh for CST-Panvel elevated fast corridor and Rs 10, 000 for Bandra-Virar corridor.
Mr Mittall also met officials from the central and western railways. Mr Mittall’s meeting with officials of Mumbai Rail Vikas Corporation (MRVC), the body that executes important projects, lasted for more than three hours at Churchgate.
