MUMBAI: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Amit Shah has asked his party’s MPs in Maharashtra to aggressively spread awareness about the Union government’s welfare and developmental schemes. He asked them to ensure that the message and work of Prime Minister Narendra Modi trickles down to the last voter. Mr Shah also took stock of the party’s preparations for the coming elections.

In a meeting with BJP MPs from both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha, Mr Shah guided them on the preparations for the 2019 general elections. He asked them to coordinate with all cells of the party as well as the Vistarak sent by it and reach out to as many sections of society as possible and tell them about the work being done by the Modi government.

Mr Shah also chaired a meeting of the ‘election management committee’ of the state BJP, which was attended by all senior leaders. According to sources, Mr Shah quizzed them about ‘panna pramukh’ appointments  in there given area. The BJP is forming a team of ‘panna pramukhs,’ with a party pointperson on every page of the voter list. Mr Shah had asked to collect a data of these ‘panna pramukhs’ and accommodate them in the party’s centrally coordinated system.

Everybody was keenly waiting for the BJP chief’s opinion on the Shiv Sena abstaining from the no trust motion in the Lok Sabha, but the BJP chief disappointed them as he did not mention or even elude to the Sena in the management committee meeting on the issue. There was a buzz that later he may have discussed the issue with the party’s core committee.
