Students await TYBCom results
MUMBAI: While the University of Mumbai (MU) had claimed about declaring the results of major courses’ examinations held in the summer within 45 days, the results of around 250 third-year B.Com students have been held or put into the ‘reserved’ category.
According to sources, the results have been held up allegedly because of technical glitches in the online assessment system, on screen marking (OSM).
“Sometimes the system fails to scan the answer paper due to which the paper is marked as ‘absent’ in the final database. This happens when the system fails to assimilate both the internal marks and external marks of the student, which leads to that student been kept on-hold till the internal marks are added up,” the source said. Similar issue due to glitch in the system had happened last year.
The results in the reserved category are held back and later officials of the varsity examination house check them. This year, more than 76,000 students appeared for the B.Com exams. Unlike last year, while the B.Com results have been delayed by five months, the varsity had declared all the results within 27 days after the last exam.
“Most of my friends’ results came out last week, while mine did not show up. When I checked online, it said: ‘Your results are being put on reserved basis’. I am planning to pursue Masters degree in Commerce, but since I haven’t received my results, I am scared that my academic career will be sabotaged,” said Sahil Ahire, a student of a Matunga-based college.
Meanwhile, the public relation officer (examinations) rubbished the glitch story and said, “The students’ attendance or internal marks were not sent to the university by their colleges. As soon as they send us the internal marks, the students’ results would be declared.”
