Class 9 teachers juggling between own training, exams
Mumbai: The Class 9 teachers in the city are having a tough time, juggling between their own training and the semester exams.
The state’s school education department has recently announced that the training sessions of these teachers will continue till September 27 that commenced on Wednesday.
Along with this, the department has also scheduled the dates of the first semester examinations for the Class 9 students for September 27. The teachers say that they are finding it difficult to manage both the training and the semester examinations.
“This training should be held before the classes begin i.e, in the month of May or June. However, we got the new textbooks in the early July so the training has also delayed. Now, we are struggling to manage both training and paper setting,” said Rajesh Pandya, a teacher.
According to the department’s guidelines, 15 days prior the first day of exam, the teachers are supposed to start setting the question paper after the making of paper pattern. In the case where the training and these 15 days are clashing, it is giving them a hard time.
“We are asked to prepare the question and side by side manage the training sessions. It is not difficult but too tiring. By doing this, the quality will be lagged and the students will suffer,” said a teacher on the condition of anonymity.
Meanwhile, an official said that it is difficult to shift the dates of the examination, as any change now will affect the upcoming Diwali vacations.
When asked about the training sessions, the official said the teachers should manage as the training is for the betterment so they can understand the new syllabus.
