Mumbai: The Maharashtra Rajya Rashtriya Kamgar Sangh has declared an indefinite strike of Ola and Uber drivers in the city Tuesday. The strike has been called over low earnings. A protest was held regarding the same Monday, which resulted in lesser availability of cabs through the day and 3x surge pricing.

The drivers affiliated with the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) demonstrated outside the aggregators’ firm office in Kurla. “The drivers agitated outside their Kur-la office, demanding an increase in earnings. A few also went to their Andheri office but it was already shut. The drivers will not resume duty until their demands are met,” said a spokesperson from the NCP. The protestors are demanding assured bu-siness of '3,000 per day and have stressed on inc-reasing trip rates on the backdrop of rising fuel prices.

The Asian Age tried to contact the aggregators, but both denied to comment on the issue. “The drivers want to increase the trip rates due to rising fuel prices; this is not possible since the prices keep on fluctuating. There won’t be any strike officially tomorrow,” said a spokesperson.
