Congress: BJP irked over FB post, hence killed Dubey

Dubey had penned a post which irked BJP and allegedly led to his murder.

Mumbai: The murder of Congress worker Manoj Dubey allegedly over a Facebook post has angered the party, with leaders from the state and Mumbai unit calling it “an act of intolerance” on the part of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and proof of the deteriorated law and order situation in the state. The Congress has demanded that the murderers be found and acted against immediately. Mr Dubey had penned a post which irked BJP workers and allegedly led to his murder.

Mr Dubey, a Congress worker in Ghatkopar and close aide of party MLA Nasim Khan, had written a Facebook post saying that his party would come to power in 2019. According to Congress leaders, this irked local BJP workers to the extent that it led to Mr Dubey being murdered at the Asalpha metro station late night Sunday.

“This shows how BJP was rattled to the core. These workers can’t even read a Facebook post which is negative for them. This political culture is being spread in the state and country by BJP leaders,” alleged Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, Radha-krishna Vikhe-Patil. He demanded strict action against BJP workers.

Mumbai Congress chief Sanjay Nirupam called it “dictatorship”. He clai-med, “It is the killing of democracy. Political opp-osition is part of democracy. So, in this case, dem-ocracy has been killed by BJP workers. The Mum-bai Congress will fight for Mr Dubey’s honour.”
