MHADA official suspended over false report

Mumbai: MHADA official faced the ire of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday after it was acknowledged that the official had submitted false report regarding the rehabilitation of Patrawala Chawl in Goregaon. “The official named Mr Mahajan has been suspended over the presenting wrong information. Now MHADA will initiate a detail enquiry on the issue,” said a senior Mhada official from Mumbai Board.

CM had chaired a meeting on Wednesday to address to concerns of the residents of Patrawala chawl regarding the redevelopment of the chawl and to review the rehabilitation work of the same.

“During the review it was revealed that the rehabilitation work has not even completed 50 per cent but the mhada report states that over 70 per cent work has been completed,” said Subhash Desai, industry minister.  The meeting was attended by Desai and minister of state for Women and Child Development Vidya Thakur and MHADA Chief Executive Officer Milind Mhaiskar.

According to a tweet by Directorate General of Information and Public Relations (DGIPR), Government of Maharashtra, CM has ordered an inquiry and punishment against the responsible officials. “This report has been prepared by the officials in alliance with the builders,” added Desai.
