Senior citizen stabs 2 persons in courtroom
Mumbai: A 67-year-old man allegedly attacked two persons with a sharp big knife in the Bhoiwada court on Wednesday. The incident took place after the two were acquitted from a case dating back to 2009, when the duo had beaten up the 67-year-old in some land case.
The duo had been arrested under section 324. But the senior citizen was unable to control his anger after hearing the verdict and attacked the duo. They have been admitted to KEM hospital.
According to a police officer, the Bhoiwada courtroom No. 5 was full packed with the complainant, lawyers and the accused. Around 12:45pm, an elderly man came behind the bench where the accused were sitting at the end of the courtroom and struck them with a knife.
“We all were standing as a routine court session was on when I suddenly saw a man hitting the two accused persons on the head. The rest of the people, who were sitting nearby, moved away. One of the victims even ran towards the judge to save himself from his attacker. The court room was splattered with blood dots on all over the floor,” he recounted.
DCP N. Ambika immediately reached the spot and the victims were taken to KEM hospital. The DCP said, “The two victims were arrested in the case under section 324, of voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means in 2009 by the Dadar police. On Wednesday, they were acquitted from the case. The senior citizen, the person is complainant in that case, could not control his anger after he heard the court decision.”
Mahesh Mhaparlakar (41) and Nandesh Kanwadkar (48) had allegedly attacked Harish Chandra Shrikar with a big stone in 2009, resulting in Harish fracturing his hand. The attack was due to some property matter.
Police sources said that on Wednesday, Shrikar knew that the result would not be in his favour so he had already come prepared to attack them with a knife.
