No one reacted to my complaints on repair scam: MLA
Mumbai: A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA, Chetan Waghmare, on Friday alleged that no action has been taken despite his complaint regarding a payment being made for the repair work of 30 rooms at south Mumbai-based Manora Aamdar Niwaas, a residential facility for MLAs and MLCs, which was never undertaken.
The building stands near Mantralaya, the administrative headquarters of the Maharashtra government. Mr Waghmare on Friday said in the Legislative Assembly that the charge of repairs in the building was “nothing but a fraud”.
Mr Waghmare added, “As per the preliminary probe by the public works department, its local staff sanctioned bills of repair work that was never undertaken. It is nothing but a fraud, and no legal action has been initiated so far”. Mr Waghmare said he had written about this to chief minister Devendra Fadnavis in July, and the latter ordered an inquiry.
The preliminary probe in the case confirmed that no repair work was carried out in 30 rooms in the building but bills were paid.
PWD minister Chandrakant Patil said the department has already suspended two deputy engineers and transferred an executive engineer following the inquiry. However, there was no legal action after that, Mr Waghmare alleged.
