Shiv Sena men attack BJP in virtual space
Mumbai: Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray refrained from speaking anything on the Bharatiya Janata Party, but his party cadre slammed the BJP on social media by circulating Bal Thackeray’s message: “If you come with us, then OK. If you don’t then we will go alone and put the saffron flag ahead”.
The Sena and BJP aren’t on the same page on alliance and their workers on social media are openly attacking each other. It may be mentioned here that Monday (January 23), which marked the birth anniversary of Sena founder Bal Thackeray, saw a barrage of tweets with his poster across social media.
However, one such poster that was retweeted or shared the most had the messaged clearly telling BJP that the Sena is ready to go solo for BMC polls.
In the past two weeks, there has been an exchange of proposals between the Sena and the BJP but nothing has been finalised yet. This has led to a deadlock on the alliance and the Sena-BJP has not taken the matter ahead.
The leaders of the party have left it to the senior party functionaries like BJP chief in state Raosaheb Danve, and chief minister Devendra Fadanvis to take a call on the alliance.
Ditto with Sena workers who have left it for Thackeray to take the final decision on joining hands with the BJP. However, this hasn’t stopped the party workers from both parties to take potshots at each other.
“Everyday we hear some or other thing from BJP and their leaders claiming that they are big brother in the alliance. However, our leader has told us that we can go alone and win the battle so we aren’t bothered much with the alliance,” said a senior Shiv Sena leader.
