No evidence against Arpita's boyfriend: Cops
Mumbai: Over a week after 29-year-old Amit Hazra was arrested on the basis of circumstantial evidence for allegedly killing anchor Arpita Tiwari on December 11, the Malvani police said it found nothing that incriminates Tiwari’s boyfriend Pankaj Jadhav (30).
The police said the absence of CCTV footage facing the apartment’s window has hampered the probe.
According to police sources, when Jadhav underwent a polygraph test earlier this month along with four other people present in the house, but only Hazra’s polygraph test results came out negative.
Whereas Jadhav’s polygraph test came positive, there was no proof, which can incriminate him, said an officer investigating the case of suspicious death of anchor Arpita Tiwari.
The police had earlier registered an ADR, suspecting the death of being a suicide but later registered a murder case against unknown persons and had grilled Jadhav and Hazra. The police sources said that Hazra was a part of the same social circuit which included Tiwari and Jadhav.
Deepak Phatangare, senior police inspector of Malvani police station said, “Jadhav has been let out on a warning. However, we have not yet given him a clean chit.”
Tiwari was found dead at Manavsthal Heights, a high-rise in Malwani in Malad (west), where Hazra lived, on December 11. She had come to the apartment with Jadhav. The trio went out drinking and returned to Hazra’s apartment around 3 am.
Tiwari’s body was found in the duct of the building around 8.30 am.
