Pune boy comes fifth in NEET, does Maharashtra proud
Mumbai: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Friday declared the results of National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) 2017. Abhishek Dogra of Pune topped in Maharashtra with an all-India rank (AIR) of five. Maharashtra has only one student in the top 25 list.
About 11.5 lakh medical aspirants appeared for the NEET in 2017 of which about 10.5 lakh students gave the exams in either Hindi or English, while around 1.25 lakh to 1.50 lakh students appeared in eight vernacular languages. The exam was held on May 7.
Abhishek Dogra told The Asian Age, “Two years of time is important for us. If you don’t have the proper guidance, there won’t be a cumulative effect of all these things you have done. I would like to thank Aakash Institute for my progress and result.”
Aakash Chaudhry, director of Aaksh Institute said, “Abhishek Dogra secured AIR 5, Nikita Goyal secured AIR 8, Aryan Raj Singh secured AIR 9, and Tanish Bansal secured AIR 10. Whereas Distance Learning Program students Archit Gupta and Manish Mulchandani secured AIR 2 and AIR 3 rank respectively.”
The counselling for NEET qualified candidates will begin soon. The counselling session will be conducted for 65,000 MBBS and 25,000 BDS seats. Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) conducts the counselling. 15 per cent seats are reserved for All India counselling as per the Director General of Health Services (DGHS) while the rest 85 per cent seats would be filled through state counselling, which will be conducted by the respective state governments. This year the cut off for candidates in the unreserved category is 131 marks, showcasing a drop in the figures.
