'Vehicle march' on September 4 for Maratha quota

An indefinite stir has already started at Azad Maidan.

Mumbai: Mumbaikars may have to face heavy traffic on September 4 as the Sakal Maratha Morcha has declared a ‘vehicles march’ in the city if the government does not announce a special assembly session for the Maratha reservation issue by Aug-
ust 31.

At the Sakal Maratha Morcha meeting held in Kolhapur, it was decided to undertake an indefinite agitation. Morcha leaders also decided on a ‘vehicle march’, in which thousands of vehicles are expected to reach Mumbai from across the state. An indefinite stir has already started at Azad Maidan.

Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis has already announced that the government will take a decision on reservation immediately after it receives the report from the state backward class commission, which may take more than three months. But the morcha is not willing to wait that long and want that the Fadnavis-led government take a decision fast. They have called for a special assembly session immediately.

Shahu Maharaj’s car will lead the march from Kolhapur and thousands of vehicles will be parked near Gateway of India and Mantralaya, till the government declares reservation for the Marathas, said Sakal Maratha Samaj coordinator, Indrajeet Sawant.
