Sharad Pawar, post Vidarbha tour, discusses farm loan waiver mess with CM Fadnavis
Mumbai: The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief, Sharad Pawar met chief minister Devendra Fadnavis in Mumbai on Thursday night. With Maharashtra’s political circle keenly observing developments over a scheduled by-election for the legislative council, a meeting between both leaders had the corridors of power abuzz with speculation. The NCP later clarified that Mr Pawar had gone to discuss issues regarding the loan waiver scheme as well as his observations from a recent tour of Vidarbha.
Last week Mr Pawar was on tour of Vidarbha where he visited five districts of east Vidarbha. After returning to Mumbai, Mr Pawar had written a letter to the chief minister and expressed deep concern over issues like the growing rate of unemployment. He also pointed out that the Naxalite movement from this region could exploit the unemployment issue and lead to serious problems. He had sought an appointment with the CM to discuss this issue.
Mr Pawar also raised concerns about the implementation of the loan waiver scheme.
