Mumbai: After closing doors for any talk of an alliance with its saffron ally, the Shiv Sena has now decided to pull out of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government at the ‘right time’.
Sources from the Sena said that even if the BJP decides to send a proposal of alliance for the Lok Sabha elections, the Shiv Sena will not consider it.
Shiv Sena MP and spokesperson Sanjay Raut said, “The Shiv Sena will take decisions on those issues at proper time.” The decision of Shiv Sena to go solo has shaken the state leaders of BJP and the senior ministers. Disputes with Shiv Sena are a routine thing for BJP.
Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis always carefully handled those wooing the Sena leadership. “Some BJP leaders were feeling that after supporting the BJP-led government in the state for 4-5 years, the Shiv Sena has become addicted for the power and they will accept the proposal of alliance for Loksabha,” said sources from the BJP.
Sources added that the BJP wants alliance with the Shiv Sena only for Lok Sabha and wants to go solo in the assembly. “The Shiv Sena knows BJP’s strategy of abolishing regional parties. Now the Shiv Sena doors are closed for the BJP,” said a senior Shiv Sena leader.
