State rapped for no plan if docs strike

Mumbai: The Bombay high court on Wednesday rapped the state government on the issue of doctors’ strike, saying the state government should have an alternate plan if doctors again go on strike. “It is like a disaster situation,” the court said. The court also expressed its disappointment when it came to know that the state-appointed committee to probe deaths of patients during a strike period in 2014 had failed to submit its report in the last three years. The court said that the report of the said committee should be submitted before the court in a seal envelope within four weeks. The court also suggested that state should improve their administration in such cases. “There is no value for life. The bridges are collapsing and lives are going. The state should take it seriously,” it said.

The court said that the state should prepare a list of deaths to show to make the doctors realise what they are doing if they go on a strike.
