Man held for storing food packets near sewage drains

The Asian Age’s photographer then alerted the Railway Protection Force (RPF) that swung into action.

Mumbai: The next time you purchase a bottle of water or a pack of chips at a suburban railway platform, you might want to ask him where the packets were stored; inside the stall or beside the tracks’ sewage drains.  An employee of a food stall at Andheri station was arrested on Thursday for storing sealed water bottles and packaged snacks between tracks and a sewage drain between platform number eight and nine.

When questioned, the stall-employee said, “The packets are kept there for storage purpose and they are packed, so how does it make a difference?”

The Asian Age’s photographer then alerted the Railway Protection Force (RPF) that swung into action. Senior police inspector Sanjay Choudhary visited the platform and after verifying the facts he arrested the stall employee, Anil Kumar Kushwaha (31). He works for a trader who runs stalls at platform number eight and nine. Kumar was arrested under relevant provisions of the Railways Act.
