Daughter of 1993 blasts accused get hc relief

Mumbai: The Bombay high court has given relief to the daughter of a 1993 Mumbai serial bomb blasts case accused, Salim Abdul Gani Gazi. According to the petitioner, Sana, her father was shown as an absconding accused in the case, due to which the passport authority made an endorsement on her passport, stating that she could only travel between India and UAE. She also said that she is married to one named Muzammil Abdul Majeed, who is settled in Dubai. She added that she has nothing to do with her father’s crime and sought that the endorsements be removed

The HC directed the passport authority to remove the endorsement. A division bench of Justices R.M. Sawant and Revati Mohite-Dere was hearing a petition filed by Sana Muzammil Abdul Majeed for a direction to the passport authorities to issue a passport to her without any restrictions on it.

After perusing the intelligence bureau report based on which this endoresement was made, the court did not find anything adverse against her except the fact that she happens to be the daughter of an absconding accused.

The court noted that Sana and her husband disclosed they have roots in UAE and their whereabouts are not traceable.
